I'm a former corporate retail buyer, who took my experience and knowledge and turned it into an industry leading, motivational, action-focused wholesale & product strategy podcast and mentorship.
If you’re a product-based business looking to scale your wholesale revenue, Faire can be a game-changer. It’s one of the largest online wholesale marketplaces, connecting independent brands with thousands of retailers actively looking for new products.
But here’s the reality: just being on Faire isn’t enough.
A lot of brands set up a shop, add a few products, and wait for orders to roll in – only to be disappointed when nothing happens. If that sounds familiar, don’t worry. You’re not alone.
After reviewing hundreds of Faire pages (as a former buyer for my own retail gifting business and as a mentor to product-based business owners), I’ve seen what separates highly successful Faire brands from those that struggle to get noticed.
And guess what? It all comes down to three key factors.
If your Faire shop isn’t performing the way you want, chances are you’re missing at least one of these. But the good news? Each of them is fixable – and I’m walking you through exactly how to do it.
So let’s dive in.
Let’s start with the most immediate thing a buyer notices when they land on your Faire page: your imagery.
Unlike a trade show, where buyers can see, touch, and experience your products in real life, Faire is a digital platform. That means your photos and videos have to do all the heavy lifting.
If your product photos aren’t crisp, professional, and visually compelling, you’re making it way too easy for a buyer to scroll right past your shop.
So what does great product imagery look like? Here’s what to focus on:
And here’s the kicker: You don’t need to hire a professional photographer to get great images.
Smartphones today take incredible photos—if you know how to use them correctly. Invest in good lighting, a tripod, and simple editing tools, and you can absolutely create high-quality images yourself.
Action Step: Take a fresh look at your Faire imagery. Does it truly sell your product? If not, prioritize an update—because this alone can make all the difference.
Next up: pricing.
A lot of brands undervalue their products on Faire, thinking that lower MOQs (minimum order quantities) will make it easier for retailers to take a chance on them.
The reality? A too-low MOQ is a red flag to buyers.
When a brand lists an MOQ of $75 with a $0 reorder, it signals to a buyer that:
And that’s not the message you want to send.
While MOQs vary by industry, here are some good benchmarks:
Remember, MOQs should be high enough to make an order worth your while but low enough that retailers aren’t scared off.
Your Faire pricing needs to be structured for sustainability. That means:
One of the biggest mistakes I see? Brands with an MOQ of $150, but each product’s case pack is $10 wholesale. That means the retailer has to order 15 different SKUs just to hit the minimum.
That’s overwhelming. Make sure your case packs align logically with your MOQ.
Action Step: Review your pricing and MOQ. Does it position you as a professional brand that understands wholesale? If not, tweak accordingly.
Finally, let’s talk about your product descriptions.
Too many brands treat their product listings as an afterthought—copying and pasting whatever they have on Shopify and calling it a day.
But here’s the thing: your product descriptions aren’t just there to inform buyers. They need to sell to them.
A great product listing should:
– Be clear and detailed – Give buyers the information they need upfront (dimensions, materials, packaging, shelf life, etc.).
– Highlight what makes your product different – Why should they stock your candle instead of another brand’s?
– Speak to the retailer’s perspective – How does your product fit into their store? Who is the ideal customer?
Example of a Weak Product Listing:
Soy candle, lavender scent. Comes in a glass jar. Hand-poured in small batches.
Example of a Strong Product Listing:
Our best-selling Relax & Unwind lavender soy candle is a must-have for boutique gift shops and home décor stores. Each 8oz candle is hand-poured in small batches using 100% soy wax for a clean, long-lasting burn (40+ hours!).
See the difference? The second one gives the retailer everything they need while also selling the product.
Action Step: Revisit your product descriptions and optimize them for sales, not just information.
